Karen is a native born Texan of Puerto Rican decent. She is the youngest of five children and takes a great deal of pride in letting you know that she is "the baby". Most of her family still live in Puerto Rico. It is because of this fact that she has such a love for the fans. Having not been raised with the rest of her family around her, the fans have become her extended family.
At the age of 6 Karen took the stage for the first time as a dancer. She danced for 9 years winning 6 World Championships. She studied Opera and Show tunes under the direction of Beth Truitt of Baylor University, and was singing Pop music by Barbara Streisand and Celine Dion. Changed directions to country music at age 11, and started singing music by Brenda Lee, Loretta Lynn, Martina McBride and Faith Hill, under voice coach Denny Yeary, of Branson, Mo. She also started writing poetry and was published in the "Anthology of Young American Writers". At age 12, she was hired by Mr. Yeary as a country singer in Waco, Texas, where she was a featured performer for 2 years. Karen started singing all over Central Texas and Branson, Mo. Age 17, she started performing with the "Cherokee Rose Band" and continues now as a guest singer.
In one of her performances at Huntsville, Tx., she was brought to the attention of Wrangler Records. After seeing her perform she was signed to a recording contract.
